Foreign skilled workers and professionals are greatly needed in Canada.
Skilled workers are definitely welcomed in Canada, high level or entry level skilled, who will contribute to Canada’s growing economy. Skilled workers that settle in Canada as a permanent resident are especially valuable to the Canadian workforce.
As a skilled worker or professional, there are different options for you to consider. For example, Canadian Experience Class, if you have past experience in Canada as a worker of student. You can either apply under the federal program or, if you know which province or area you plan to reside, you may be benefited by their provincial immigration policy as well.
Express Entry is a computer based online system which manages applications for three economic immigration programs which are most related to foreigner workers:
Provinces and territories can also recruit candidates from the Express Entry pool to get through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to meet local labor market needs.
To be eligible to enter the Express Entry system, you must meet certain basic requirements of the program you selected which includes your nationality, age, language ability, family members, education, work experience and details on any job offer. For example, you have to acquire minimum 67 points to be deemed as a Skilled Worker under the Federal Skilled Worker Program before you can even explore the other requirement of the said program.
Rural Northern Immigration Pilot is a new effort IRCC leverages its policy power to boost economy of remoted communities. There are 11 communities be selected for this pilot trial.
Express Entry
Federal Skill Worker, Skill Trades, Canadian Experience Class and provincial nominee are now being processed through or integrated with Express Entry selection system for Canada immigration. Quebec Skilled Workers
Quebec has agreement with federal government which allow Quebec government to define their own programs while federal government oversee Quebec’s approved candidates more on grounds i.e. health, criminal and security. There are a few skilled worker programs specifically for those who want to stay in Quebec. Programme de l’expérience québécoise (PEQ) or Quebec Experience is one of them. And this program accepts international student applicants as well.
PNP Skilled Worker
There are 11 Provincial Nominee Programs other than the Quebec. Similar criteria with some variation based on different economic priorities. They all welcome local graduated international students, LMIA exempted. These are practical avenues for different individuals to apply and become a PR who intends to live and work in particular province or territory. These are fast-track Canadian Immigration (Permanent Resident) programs.
